THE BAR
The Bar will be serving cheap beer, wine, and a variety of delicious cocktails to cool you down in the daytime heat and warm you up at night.
LUNCH VENDORS
Every year, The Palace invites lunch vendors to serve delicious snacks and meals to help keep you going between breakfast and dinner. Last year’s vendor was Warsaw-based Tiki Trip, serving vegan and vegetarian flavors from around the world. This year’s vendor is to be announced.
COMMUNITY SHIFTS
Practising community through co-creation and participation is a founding value of The Palace Residency. Nothing happens unless we, together, make it happen. This goes as much for the day-to-day functioning of the site as it does for the artworks and friendships that will unfold over the two weeks. Besides generally treating the site, event and community as our shared responsibility, all residents commit to volunteering.
The site runs through the commitment of all residents to take on community shifts. Community shifts are organized in teams and are a great way to connect with other residents and take pride in making the residency happen!
Everyone accepted to the 2024 Residency will take a minimum of 3 community shifts over the two-week period. All residents are also invited to serve more than the minimum.

REFUND POLICY
We understand that we live in an unpredictable world and that you may need to cancel your plans to attend the residency.

SITE ACCESSIBILITY & SAFETY
This site is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Many spaces are spread across multiple floors, with some stairways being quite narrow. The entire site also has varying terrains, including slopes, gravel, and grass that can present some mobility challenges if using a cane or crutches. Don’t hesitate to contact us at residents@thepalacecollective.org if you have questions about accessibility.
The site is a Polish Heritage site and is currently under renovation. We suggest bringing a headlamp or flashlight for navigating some indoor spaces at night.
WE MUST NOT ALTER THE SITE IN ANY WAY: This includes hammering nails into the walls, writing or painting on surfaces, or making any other lasting changes to the building and its grounds. Please respect this cultural heritage site. Anything less can result in significant fines.
Beware of ticks. Lyme and other tick-borne diseases are present in Poland. Consider wearing insect repellant containing at least 20% DEET and check regularly for bites. Ticks like warm, dark parts of the body, so bring a mirror or ask a friend to inspect those out-of-the-way spots ;) When removing ticks, ensure the head does not break off as it can stay in the skin an lead to infection.
AMENITIES
Most shared rooms have ensuite bathrooms and toilets.
There are also 4 sets of public showers on-site (hot showers indoors and cold showers in the garden)
There are also 7 public toilets onsite, 2 of which are on the ground floor.
There will be a tuck shop open certain hours of the days where you can purchase essentials such as suncream, sanitary products and snacks. There is also a local super market in the village, a 5 minute walk from the site.
PRIVACY, SITE SAFTEY & PUBLIC TOURS
Pałac Gorzanów is a cultural foundation that subsidises projects like ours through support from cultural funds. In exchange, the site must be open for tours to the public.
During our residency programme, we have agreed to reduce touring hours to between noon and 1600 on weekdays. A tour route will be pre-agreed with the tour guides so as to reduce interruption to our programme. However, please be aware that there will be outside groups taken around the site between noon and 1600 during weekdays.
Palace Gorzanow is run and maintained by a group of volunteers who live onsite, working with Marek to restore the site and support its cultural programmes. We have built a close relationship with the volunteers over the years, many of which are also creatives. We invite you to do the same!
We are collectively responsible for the security of the site and for caring for ourselves and our possessions! We do not have easily accessible lockers available. Please read our Community Care page for more information on care for ourselves and others around the site.

EMOTIONAL & ENERGETIC EXPERIENCE
The Palace residency is an intensely stimulating experience with high levels of creativity and socialising involved. It is important to monitor your energy and emotional levels while going through this experience; it is a marathon, not a race.
If you have pre-existing conditions that make you sensitive to extended periods of intense socialising please bring with you whatever resources (physical or metaphorical) that you need to maintain your internal balance.
With so much new input from external forces at play, we highly recommend bringing what you need to feel comfortable and safe. Whether that is a morning ritual or a camp stove, whatever helps you to feel grounded.
We encourage Residents to be transparent and vulnerable with their experience of mental health issues. Though we cannot say the Palace is an entirely “safe” space we are working to provide more resources with this in mind.
Be mindful that everyone is going through their own experiences, and while we are all in the same environment, people may have a response to a shared experience that is incredibly different from your own.
Our Community Care team will be active onsite to support wellbeing, safety, and mental health. More details to be announced closer to the date.
